Daily Discussions on Thomas Jefferson Photos| Thomas Jefferson. Erased. | | My lovely state of Texas has just voted to remove references of Thomas Jefferson and replace him with religious idol John Calvin, and St. Thomas Acquinas. So, apparently the separation of church and state is gone. The reason Jefferson was removed is because he opposed church and state mingling together. Here is a list of other things removed:- The word "democracy". Replaced with "constitutional republic"
- Transvestites, transexuals, and other things republicans don't like.
- The word "capitalism". Replaced with "free enterprise"
| | What does Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd US President, say about Healthcare reform? | | Thomas Jefferson wrote theDeclaration of Independence, and was our 3rd President. I found these quotes he made and I think we consider them, especially in regards to his health care reform debate."Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.""Most bad government has grown out of too much government." | |
| | | | | Why Thomas Jefferson studied the Quran | | Thomas Jefferson realized that in order to understand the thoughts of the Muslim pirates that had been taking millions of Africans and tens of thousands of European Christians as slaves. These happened in the Islamic "Barbary" states.
This happened over a course of 10 centuries according to author, Ted Sampley" of the U.S. Veteran Dispatch, January 2007. The pirates would cruise the African and Mediterranean coastline pillagin villages and seizing slaves. Older women and (non-Muslim) men who could not be changed would be killed, while the ones that brought the most profit, children and young women, would be taken.
He goes on to inform that the "Barbary" states included: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Tripoli. The Muslim pirate slavers also took Americans as slaves, especially since they had lost the protection of England.
Are we not to learn a lesson from this very important man of history?
Do you know wonder why this information is not taught in the government (public) schools that are teaching our children?
What other information is being hidden in the name of "tolerance"? What if we had "tolerated" slavery, or the right for women to vote? Or if we had "tolerated" the view...

| | Conservatives Playing With History Books | | Conservatives use to demonize school text books that talked more about Betty Ross than George Washington. Yet Texas conservatives have decided that Thomas Jefferson is not worthy of children to learn about. Forget about that he was the author of the Declaration of Independence and the Third President. I would not be making such a big deal about this but since Texas buys so many school books, school book makers design their whole line of books based on what states like Texas wants. So because of this one decision children all over America will learn more about John Calvin than Thomas Jefferson, how it all comes full circle. | |
| | Boy, did Jefferson ever get a bad rap in history. | | This stems from a conversation I have been having in another thread on another topic entirely. though this is being written for the benefit of a prticular person, it is important corrective information that needs to be put put there. Now, it is commonly taught that Jefferson owned slaves. There is no disputing this. It was the "thing" of the time, a time in which not many saw it as evil. what isn't commonly taught it that Jefferson, despite owning slaves early on, was not very comfortable with the practice of slavery, calling it a"moral and political depravity" As time progressed, hebecame more and more openly against it and began acting to end it. So, Lets have a look at some of Jefferson's thoughts on slavery
"Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people[blacks] are to be free. Nor is it less certain that the two races, equally free, cannot live in the same government. Nature, habit, opinion has drawn indelible lines of distinction between them.""Do not mistake me. I am not advocating slavery. I am not justifying the wrongs we have committed on a foreign people... On the contrary, there is nothing I would not sacrifice...
