Movies: Your Favorite line
It is interesting to note how many times lines thought to come from a movie is not what was said. I would love to say "play it again Sam" was my favorite movie line. But in the movie Rick said "play it again...you played it for her, you can play it for me". But I do like "here's looking at you kid", however I really like "no fighting in The War Room" from Dr. Strangelove. So what is your favor it line from a movie?
Why clinton lost
One year ago I was advising someone pondering an endorsement of Barack Obama. I will not claim incredible prescience. I did not predict that Obama would become the Democratic nominee for President. But I did think he had the best chance of winning. I thought there would be an anti-Clinton candidate. I thought it would not be John Edwards. I felt Edwards' populism would not play well in New Hampshire, where he finished fourth in 2004, and that his fundraising wouldn't give him the needed resources for a strong showing on Super Tuesday. By elimination if nothing else, I thought Barack Obama would become the alternative for voters looking for someone new. Obama proved he could raise a lot of money. I thought it was a "change election," and voters wanted something vastly different than their choices of recent elections, and that Obama offered the biggest break with the past that would be tolerated by the primary electorate. I thought that Democrats would hope for something more than the half-loaf we came away with from the Clinton administration; instead of rear-guard actions delaying the advancing Republicans, Democrats want bold change. And I thought that any campaign guided by...

the "new" basic training
What do you think about the "new" lower stress basic training? FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. -- New recruits used to be welcomed to boot camp here with the "shark attack." For decades, drill sergeants in wide-brim hats would swarm around the fresh-off-the-bus privates, shouting orders. Some rattled recruits would make mistakes. A few would cry. Today, the Army is opting for a quieter approach. "I told my drill sergeants to stop the nonsense, " says Col. Edward Daly, whose basic-training brigade graduates about 11, 000 soldiers a year. Last fall, Col. Daly began meeting with all new recruits shortly after they arrive at boot camp to thank them. "We sincerely appreciate the fact that you swore an oath and got on a bus and did it in a time of war, " he recently told an incoming class. "That's a big, big deal." He usually is accompanied by two male and two female soldiers, who can answer questions the recruits may have. "The idea is to get rid of the anxiety and worry, " Col. Daly says. The new welcome is a window on the big changes sweeping boot camp, the Army's nine-week basic training. For most of its existence, boot camp was a place where drill sergeants would weed out the weak and...

What is accomplished by all this war and fighting ..when is it enough?
What is accomplished by war and fighting..why mustthe world and nations continuously fight against each other bydestroying each other in war?Why are people not able to settle differences by talking over differences? Why must we solve problems by giving alteranatives like war?? Why is destruction our only way of getting our message across?
Why are we losing the war against Cancer?
According to the New York Times, adjusting for the size and age of the population, cancer death rates have dropped only 5% since 1950. Would you accept a medical therapy, with this kind of record? Death rates for heart disease are down 64 percent, flue and pneumonia 58%. Even though Billions are collected each year for cancer research nothing happens. Latest News reports, cancer is now the #1 killer. Lots of fat salaries, hundreds of thousands employed, and an interesting fact, - Alternative Medicine can, and is curing some cancers. Main Stream Cancer Therapy, however will not recognize this, because the Big Drug Companies are selling cancer drugs and therapies that are only helping a very few patients. The FDA is hand and foot with the Patent Medicine Companies in not allowing natural medicine to be sold by anyone else. Meanwhile huge profits are being made on Drugs that are too often proving to be useless. If a cancer cure was found tomorrow, thousands of fat salaries would dry up. Do you believe the general public would benefit, or would the Greedy Drug Companies keep on murdering innocent people? (Read; "Knockout," interviews with Doctors who Are Curing Cancer, By Suzanne...
NKorea warns of war if punished for ship sinking
What do you think guys? It's like stealing or murdering without a punishment. What is in the minds of the NKoreans now? If the UN would suppress them that would do it but who would side with the NKoreans if the world went to war with them? This could very well be a WW. What do you think the world should do?
Is it necessary to rage a war against other countries
Hi,This feeling disturbs me very much. The politicians and top bureaucrats do not suffer due to the war. It is the common man who has to face all the problems when a war happens. Inflation rises, income level decreases, risks increases. The top level politicians and bureaucrats are not affected at all. In one of Sidney Sheldon's book, the hero of the story has a dialogue "The biggest farce run by government is war". I truly admit that. What about you guys?
