Daily Discussions on The Kennedys DVD
In rememberance of Bobby Kennedy
Today is a day of rememberance for the Kennedy family and many supporters of the Kennedy family. 40 years ago today Bobby Kennedy was assasinated. I had just mentioned Bobby in another discussion recently without even realizing how long ago it was that he and his brother were with us standing for change. They were full of ideas the world did not want- much like Obama seems to be these days.Let's all have a moment of silence when reaching this discussion in honor of Robert (Bobby Kennedy and remember all that he stood for and the great man he was.Where you around when Bobby was shot? Where were you? Do you remember what you were doing?
scott brown-good or bad for america?
Recently Scott Brown shockly won Ted Kennedys senate seat. I was wondering what your thoughts on the guy are? I honestly don't know yet-it is too early to tell. but do you think we should pass healthcare why or why not?
Massahusetts Stuns country with republican vote!!!
I'm sure everyone has heard that always democratic Massachusetts filled the late Edward Kennedys seat with a republican vote!! Little known republican Scott Brown won the major upset on Tuesday. I was born and raised in Boston and still can't believe the news. I guess it just another "Shame on you" President Obama. Americans, clearly do not want the trillion dollar health reform that is being forced on us. It hurts medicade, takes away jobs and would run our nation deeper into debt, like we need that..Its ironic that Edwards Kennedy's passion was health care until his death from brain cancer. I don't want to start a political free for all but I think Obama has done a less than adequate job so far and his response to this new development was almost comical. He said something to the effect of "Well, I've lost touch with the people and especially those of my party. Its because of all the crisises I've had to devote my time too....but I promise, I'll do a better job this year" Give me a break,,Hey, I voted for him and hope the disappointment dosen't continue on. What is your take on Massachusetts? Were you as surprised as me?
What will be the Jackson Family legacy?
The Jackson family will go done as one of the most talented families ever. They are ahead of the Barrymores, The Osmonds, The Baldwins or any other entertainment family. The closet thing is probably The Kennedys though they did enter politics the Jackson name and achievements led by Michael rival that made The Kennedys.Their acclaim and dept is worldwide. They are led by a hard stern Patriarch. The have big stars and not so big stars among them. The fact that they have survived healthy and strong and have prospered is a great indication of their family strength and bond. Love for the Jackson Family.isises I've had to devote my time too....but I promise, I'll do a better job this year" Give me a break,,Hey, I voted for him and hope the disappointment dosen't continue on. What is your take on Massachusetts? Were you as surprised as me?
Do you know a Bostonian....
The one hundred and one ways to know a Bostonian. 1. The Red Sox World Series win was, and will always be, one of the greatest moments in your life. 2. The guy driving in front of you is going 70 mph and you're swearing at him for going too slow. 3. When ordering a tonic, you mean a Coke. 4. You went to Canobie Lake Park or Water Country as a kid. 5. You actually enjoy driving around rotaries. 6. You do not recognize the letter "R" as a part of the English language. 7. Your social security number starts with an 0 8. You can actually find your way around Boston. 9. You know what a "regular" coffee is. 10. You keep an ice scraper in your car year-round. 11. You can tell the difference between a Revere accent and a Dorchester accent. 12. Springfield is located "way out west."13. You almost feel disappointed if someone doesn't flip you the bird when you cut them off or steal their parking space. 14. You know how to pronounce the names of towns like Worcester, Billerica, Gloucester, and Haverhill. 15. Anyone you don't know is a potential idiot until proven otherwise. 16. Paranoia sets in if you can't see a Dunkin Donuts or CVS within eyeshot at all times. 17. You...
An album I've had for years, that I'm just now beginning to appreciate fully
is the Dead Kennedys' album, Plastic Surgery Disasters/In God We Trust, Inc. As my musical tastes grow and mature, I'm seeing more and more of the subtle techniques that went into writing these songs, putting the vibe and changing the vibe on the fly, as well as the influences of various other musical genres on what is probably my favorite punk album. I've had this CD since 2001 or so, yet only now am I beginning to really appreciate it.If you don't have it, pick it up. If you do, share your thoughts on it. Or, share your thoughts on another album that has had a similar effect on you after years of ownership.
I HEARD ASTONISHING (if true) NEWS TODAY!!
[b]President Bush's wonderful tax cuts are about to expire, & The One is sure to let them, so that he can get more money (he said) for his far-left causes. A few were named, such as sex ed (including how to cross dress & other bizarre stuff for pre-teens), & the usual pork, but one item jumped off the page at me, & I simply could NOT believe what I was reading.I want you to wrap your head around this concept: Money to pay for a new bridge, & it's to be called (are you ready?): "The Kennedy Chappaquiddick Memorial Bridge."[em]w00t[/em]!!!!???!?!?I have trouble believing such a thing is possible, butif it's true--what in the wide wideworld were they thinking when they named this bridge-to-be?!? I can't believe the Kennedys are sanguine with this. I mean, surely they'd likenever to be faced with that ugly memory again, so who would DO this, & WHY???!?Sorry for the "elephantitus" of the punctuation (it's something I usually frown on), but my mind is justtotally boggled! Please, someone--anyone!--tell me I dreamed this, or it's a prank, or more details, at the very least! I'm going to go lie down, now. Maybe I can...
Senator Edward Kennedy's death
I lived in the Philippines, but I was deeply emotional when I read the news that Senator Kennedy passed away. I grew up admiring the powerful and glamorous Kennedy family and became fascinated with their life story. So fascinated that next the British royal family, I did extensive research about the Kennedys.Senator Kennedy was the last of the celebrated Kennedy brothers and there seemed no one in the second Kennedy generations that is willing to pick up the torch Senator Teddy left. It is so sad he is gone now, he could be an effective US President, just don't look on his scandal's involved in 1969 just look on how he shaped some important reform bill in the senate especially about health care issues. How about anybody there?do you agree that Senator Kennedy was the last heir of America's royalty and political glamorous family?
The mystery of another Kennedy sister
I read this from yahoo news that JFK sister, Rosemary, was institutionalized due to the wrong medical procedure, lobotomy, performed on her when she was 23, according to the news, it was performed at the approval of her father to correct mental retardation, the procedure went wrong. But I was wondering why, with all the power attached to the Kennedys, they did not sue the doctors who performed the procedure?it was a clear evidence of medical malpractice. Anyway, that was long time ago and Rosemary died last 2005 at the age of 88. But I was just curious with this case because there's a line that intrigued me more in the wikipedia when I read the story about Rosemary Kennedy:"it was the biggest cover-up medical story" (wikipedia). my Gosh!
In memory of the day the music died Feb long but worth the read
One day in early February 1959, a 13-year-old in New Rochelle, New York, cut open the stack of newspapers he was about to deliver and read that three rock ’n’ roll stars, Buddy Holly, J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, and Ritchie Valens, had died in a plane crash in Iowa. The boy later said he felt “like someone had punched me in the face.” It was a feeling shared by many in America and around the world. Years later, in 1971, that paperboy, Don McLean, would write the song “American Pie,” which gave an enduring name to the event: the Day the Music DiedA reference to the beloved "sock hop".(Leather-soled street shoes tear up wooden basketball floors, and rubber-soled sneakers grip too much for dance moves, so dancers had to take off their shoes.)Man, I dig those rhythm 'n' bluesSome history. Before the popularity of rock and roll, music, like much else in the U. S., was highly segregated. The popular music of black performers for largely black audiences was called, first, "race music", later softened to rhythm and blues. In the early 50s, as they were exposed to it through radio personalities such as Allan Freed, white teenagers began listening, too. Starting around...
