| American Presidents Series | | I've been reading some of these of and on. The books are all about 180 pages long and hit the high (and low) points in the president's life and adminstration. The books tend to give you insights about the presidents that didn't get covered in school. This is especially good for some of the 'minor' presidents (like John Tyler or Zachary Taylor) who don't really get covered in history classes. | |

| Media Reporting of the News | | Do you believe what is being reported in the press today? I recently watched a documentary about how American Presidents manipulate the media to justify their action such as going to war in Iraq. The name of this documentary was "War made easy - How Presidents & Pundits keep spinning us to death". This really opened my eyes. It showed how those who were right in their assessment of the situation at the time were shunned and belittled for opposing the official view. If this is the case as to how you see it, where do you get the news, the truth? | |

In my view, Obama has said alot pre election and has charmed his way to the top, but I was always sceptical of what he can actually achieve. But personally, I give him a chance on realistic issues, since he makes an effort of talking rather than knee-jerk reactions. I also believe that American presidents do not have long enough to carry out certain objectives of change especially when a presdecessor takes the country into the abyss. I would like thoughts on this issue, non-american and american please. | |
