The flying of the English flag & the wearing of the England shirt have now become banned in some pubs & clubs during the competition to avoid upsetting people of other cultures & religions.Students at Warwick University have been banned from flying the flag of St George in the run-up to the World Cup.Thousands of students have been told that no flags are to be displayed at windows before or after the tournament.Yesterday Metropolitan Police Service have recommended T-shirts and banners that bare the flags of the countries, or the symbols on the materials, should be banned from being worn in pubs during the South Africa 2010 World Cup. The advice comes in a letter from the Metropolitan Police to pubs in Croydon, South London.
