Is George Bush the worst president in U.S. history?
What do you think? According to the report below he has borrowed more money than all 42 previous presidents combined, a hefty $1.05 trillion.President Bush and the current administration have borrowed more money from foreign governments and banks than the previous 42 presidents combined, a group of conservative to moderate Democrats said Friday.Blue Dog Coalition, which describes itself as a group "focused on fiscal responsibility," called the administration's borrowing practices "astounding."According to the Treasury Department, from 1776-2000, the first 224 years of U.S. history, 42 U.S. presidents borrowed a combined $1.01 trillion from foreign governments and financial institutions, but in the past four years alone, the Bush administration borrowed $1.05 trillion."The seriousness of this rapid and increasing financial vulnerability of our country can hardly be overstated," said Rep. John Tanner (D-Tenn.), a leader of the Blue Dog Coalition and member of the House Ways and Means Committee. "The financial mismanagement of our country by the Bush Administration should be of concern to all Americans, regardless of political persuasion," said Tanner in a press...
US Census - What History Tells US about the Information Collected.
In 1942 the Congress passed the second War Powers Act which in part directed the Sect. of Commerce to turn over to other Government Officials Census Data including information gained from the Confidential Questionnaire. This information could be used in the War Effort. Some of the questions asked were the place of birth of you parents and citizenship. That data was made available to other branches of government and the people of Japanese Ancestry, considered a " Threat", were rounded up and placed in Concentration Camps. Those of German and Italian, also countries we were at war with were not. So much for keeping the data confidential. In the current census questions there are several about military service and active duty and training. Home Land Security considers Military veteran a "Threat".They ask several questions on housing and who is living in your house and how many bedrooms you have. I remember the scene in the Movie Dr. Zhivago, where the Dr. returns home only to find others living with them. His wife tells him that the government committee determined they had room for other who did not have proper housing. I own a 4 bedroom house with just my wife and I. Can I...

Do you like history?
History helps us understand changes and how the society we live in came to be. Any time we want to know why something happened, such as a war in the Middle East or the Balkans, a shift in political party dominance in the American congress, and a major change in the teenagers' violence, we have to look for factors which took shape earlier. Thus, history makes so much sense though history is yersterday or something! So, do you pay attention to history?
Senator McCain Calls For Great Oversight On 700 Billion Bail Out
SCRANTON, Pa. — Republican John McCain called Monday for greater oversight of the Bush administration's proposed bailout of U.S. financial markets, saying the $700 billion plan being crafted by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson needed broader supervision."Never before in the History Of our nation has so much power and money been concentrated in the hands of one person. This arrangement makes me deeply uncomfortable," the presidential candidate said at a rally. "We will not solve a problem caused by poor oversight with a plan that has no oversight."McCain praised Paulson and said he had spoken to him several times over the weekend. But the GOP presidential hopeful nonetheless called for a bipartisan oversight board to supervise the proposed bailout, to be led by Warren Buffett or another widely respected business leader.McCain suggested his one-time rival for the GOP nomination, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg be part of the effort as well. Both men made multimillion-dollar fortunes in business before entering politics.Earlier, McCain, who just a week ago said the economy was fundamentally...
What would happen if guns were banned tomorrow in the US?
Imagine that the unthinkable happened and that the 2nd amendment was repealed and guns were banned outright. What do you think would happen? How would the government get guns off the streets? For the sake of this discussion I'll pretend the result would not be a bloody revolution where people open fire on any law enforcement attempting to take away their right to defend themselves.I think it would likely start with a "voluntary" program where people turn in their guns and maybe get a cookie and a pat on the head. The government would track these people and then proceed to send law enforcement to the homes of anyone with a registered firearm demanding they turn it in. If they did not, it would be taken by force. If they claimed the weapon was lost or stolen, their homes would be searched and torn apart to be sure weapons weren't under floorboards or behind drywall. After a period of time the majority of law abiding citizens would lose their guns and with them, the ability to defend themselves. And what of the gangs and criminals? They would, of course, run amok. Bank robberies would skyrocket. Home invasions, rape, and other crimes would increase as law abiding citizens,...
Do you like your name? Have you ever changed it?
Actually,I don't like it,but never changed it!You know, most of us have our given names when we were still in mom's belly. So, we seldom have any chance to choose a name for ourselves. But, when we are grown up,changing our names is very much a hard work, since there were already a long history behind us.So,we may give it up.But the thing is your name is with you for all your life, and maybe you really don't like it! So, in this circumstance, will you change it?
