| Are there any great american bands left? | | Am I the only one that misses the days of Hendrix and Zeppelin? Now it seems that everything is sung by some whiny emo punk want-to-be, or really bad metal, or it all just sounds the same. Thoughts? | |
| | Sean Hannity, You're NOT a Great American! | | I know some of you here are fans of Fox News and radio talk show host Sean Hannity and some of you have mentioned in your posts that he donates huge amounts of cash for the children of our fallen troops to go to college. He gets most of this money from his "Freedom Concerts" every year. Well, as it turns out it's true he takes in millions of dollars but most of it goes for private jets and fancy limos to cart him, his family and the rest of his entourage around. According to tax returns the highest percentage that actually went to the charity has been around 12%! Most of the soldiers' children only got $1000-2000 with none getting more than $6000. Ironically, this story was first broken by a conservative blogger!: http://www.examiner.com/x-23316-Madison-Independent-Examiner~y2010m3d19-Conservative-blogger-Sean-Hannitys-charity-is-a-fraudAny thoughts? Not such a "Great American" after all, is he, if he's using the children of our fallen heroes to line his own pockets? Annie | |
| | The Great American Illusion | | At lest we have freedom of choice is that not what makes America great, but what we have has nothing to do with freedom of choice. When every single market in this country is regulated this means that everything any American thinks he is freely choosing is something that has been “approved” by the government for American consumption and Americans may only “choose” from that list. Choosing something not on the “approved” list is considered criminal and can result in one losing their freedoms altogether. That’s not freedom of choice, that is only state control of people’s lives which just does not exist. | |

| Anyone Quitting Smoking for the Great American Smoke-Out Tomorrow? | | I'm going to try to quit smoking tomorrow for the Great American Smoke-Out. I've always passed that day by, but I am going to do it this year. I've smoked for 11 years, and now I'm going to try. T he longest I have ever been able to quit for has been 4 weeks, with a few partial-day attempts this year. Is anyone else going to do it? | |
| | Is Anyone Else Quitting Smoking for the Great American Smoke-Out? | | I am going to try to quit smoking tomorrow for the Great American Smoke-Out. I've smoked since I was 15, so that's 11 years now. So I'm going to try to do it for the day and see where it goes from there. I don't smoke more than a pack a day, but the last two times I've tried to quit I haven't even made it through the day. The longest I have ever gone without smoking is 4 weeks, but that was when I was pregnant with my first son--and he's 5 now. My husband isn't going to quit tomorrow, so that will be a challenge. So, is anyone else going to try tomorrow? | |
