Daily Discussions on George H. Bush Bobblehead| "The Grand Hotel" in Mackinac Island | | [i]Mackinac Island (pronounced like MACK-in-aw; note the silent "c") is a small island, 3.776 square miles (9.780 km2) in land area, in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located in Lake Huron, at the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac, between the state's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. The island was a Native American settlement before European exploration began in the 17th century. It served a strategic position amidst the commerce of the Great Lakes fur trade. This led to the establishment of Fort Mackinac on the island by the British during the American Revolutionary War. It was the scene of two strategic battles during the War of 1812.[3]In 1886, the Michigan Central Railroad, Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad, and Detroit and Cleveland Steamship Navigation Company formed the Mackinac Island Hotel Company. The group purchased the land on which the hotel was built and construction began, based upon the design by Detroit architects Mason and Rice. When it opened the following year, the hotel was advertised to Chicago, Erie, Montreal and Detroit residents as a summer retreat for vacationers who arrived by lake steamer and by rail from across the continent. At its opening,...
| | Yahweh's Resume | | I was browsing through the net because I wanted to find out something about the Old Testament God, The Muslim Allah, The Christian God the Father. I wanted to know how the idea of this God developed through the ages, what the ancient Hebrews (who were Pagans) really believed. I had already read somewhere that Yahweh was only a sky god in the Hebrew pantheon, who later got "promoted" to his post as Lord God of the Universe, Creator of the world. What I got in the Internet was a rant. Now, I like rants; they amuse me. Or rather, the ranters ability to express a plethora of emotions through just one four letter word beginning with "f" amuses me. And this was a jolly good rant, not that informative, but a good rant. I was just going to read it and forget about it, when I saw Yahweh's resume at the bottom of it. Well, I found myself nodding in agreement. This is exactly what I felt when I read the Old Testament myself. In fact, this was precisely what upset me for days. I thought I would share it here.Believers, keep away!! This is not for you though if you wish you may read and leave a rant of your own.;)[b]Personal Resume and Data Sheet

| | | McCain's statement about not taking earmarks doesn't fly | | I was listening to Grampa Simpson make a statement that any congressman that has been in office for 20+ years would never make. He stated that he has never accepted an earmark, nor has he ever requested one (he must have had a senior moment). In 2003 McCain slipped $14.3 million into a defense appropriations bill to create a buffer zone around Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. As Roll Call reported in 2003 this project violated McCain's own anti-pork rhetoricMcCain also pressed the republican adminstration of President George H. W. Bush to secure a $5 million earmark for a weastewater project in Arizona after Congress had rejected the request. McCain wrote: "I would like to request that EPA either re-program $5 million out of existing funds, or earmark the amount from an appropriate account." I guess that John forgot all about this, but what do you expect from the man that has forgot so much in this election. | |
| | There's no Money for Existing Programs, We can't Afford Obama's Health Care Plan | | The government is starving for revenue. The recession has caused tax revenue to drop sharply and according to experts, there is no money for important programs already in place, let alone national health care at a cost of $1 trillion.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_plummeting_taxes"The last time the government's revenues were this bleak, the year was 1932 in the midst of the Depression."On top of that, Social Security is predicted to run out of money much sooner than expected, as early as 2013 it could be paying out more than it takes in."The numbers for 2009 are striking, head-snapping. But what really matters is what happens next," said Gale, who previously taught economics at UCLA and was an adviser to President George H. W. Bush's Council of Economic Advisers."If it's just one year, then it's a remarkable thing, but it's totally manageable. If the economy doesn't recover soon, it doesn't matter what your social, economic and political agenda is. There's not going to be any revenue to pay for it."Meanwhile, Obama pushes forward his expensive takeover of the health care system."President Barack Obama has said he wants to tackle Social Security next... | |
| | is freemasonry a threat to true democracy? | | There are masonic lodges in most western towns, freemasons meet in these buildings that have no windows. We all know that US Presidents and Senators are members of secret societies like Skull and Bones (Yale), Scroll and Key (Yale). Queen Elizabeth II is Grand Master of World Freemasonry! It dates back to the Templar Knights and the main reason behind it is to gain assets and expand these assets infinitely, to the point where most western leaders are freemasons, and therefore owe dues to an order other than their superiors in the real world, it certainly doesn't make for a democratic doctrine. I don't mind when smart decent freemasons are in power (for example George H. W. Bush was the last president to serve in World War II - honours like this are impressive to say the least!), but when people like his son George W. Bush become president, I get the feeling that something has gone awfully wrong. JFK tried to tell the American people that these secret societies were a threat to democracy - but the message never really hit home. Barack Obama seems to have his mind on the job rather than on his pocket like most other people. He's not wealthy is he? He's not an oil baron is he?... | |
| | Which living President would you re-elect? | | I was looking at a picture taken from the recent gathering of the 5 living Presidents and I got to thinking... what would happen if they ran against each other?Jimmy Carter
George H. W. Bush
Bill Clinton
George W. Bush
Barak ObamaWe know it will never happen, and the elections are over so this dosent have to be some big contoversy discussion.Lets just say we had to re-elect one of these Presidents for another term. Who would you vote for?I'll start... I'm a Clinton fan. I know there are some people groaning right now but personaly, from my memory of his Presidency I remember good economic progress and a genuine effort put forth in our foreign policy, and a good image of America overseas. So what about you? Lets have some fun!
| | Is You Head Wrapped Around Obama's Change,Take Your Head Check Here | | OBAMA: Crack down on lobbyists once and for all so their backroom deal-making no longer drowns out the voices of the middle class and undermines our common interests as Americans.RUSH: Stop the tape. More middle class pandering here. This guy is loaded with lobbyists. He's loaded with Washington types, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, undermining the common interests as Americans. This guy is not of America. This guy is of Washington and he's simply pandering here from the Democrat Party playbook.OBAMA: And, yes, bring a responsible end to the war in Iraq, so we stop spending billions each month rebuilding their country when we should be rebuilding ours.RUSH: Stop the tape. This is brazen, because we now know that Barack Obama, when he was in Baghdad in July, sought a deal with the Iraqi foreign minister for them to suspend any plan on the withdrawal of US troops until after the presidential election. He has been running around campaigning he's going to get these troops out of there, he's going to get 'em out of there now, this is the first thing he's going to do, it was unjust war, shouldn't have been fought. He raised a lot of money on... | |
