Daily Discussions on American Heritage Illustrated History of the Presidents| Native American Heritage Month | | Come and gone.... and now three days into December, I have held my peace, but can stomach it no longer. Deliberately I chose not to make mention of this signficant and important event, during the designated month, in an effort to see just exactly who here, specificaly Americans, would remember and pay tribute. RESPONSE: ZERO.As an American you have no excuse if your purport to claim any knowledge or study of American history, not to have taken the moement and pay tribute to these first Americans, whose cultures and peoples were dynamic and ongoing, before Europeans arrived to decimate and then near cultracide/genocide them away.I am especialy disheartened and yet simo delighted to continue to expose the charade of the American political leftists and secular progressives here, who mouth the party platitudes and yet in this conspicous example of denial/failure, continue to demonstrate, they 'do not walk the walk, but merely talk it.'Had this been MLK day, no doubt mention or use of the noted Doctors remarks and philosopies would be bannered by the aforementioned in the never ending diatribes. But no, the disrespect shown to Native Americans speaks for it's self. | |

| | AMERICA: What people don't understand... | | I read a topic someone posted that was called "things I hate about americans" the poster pretty much said it's sad that theres a burger king next to the empire state building. In China, Japan, Europe, Italy there is so much history... there are temples, shrines, churches, land marks and beautiful architecture... from centuries ago.America is the way it is because it is a young country. The only things America has of significance is Mount Rushmore, Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon. 2 out of 3 is the way the earth was built by god... and Mount Rushmore is just a bit of carving on a rock. We don't have history in America... you don't walk down the street and see significant things. America is a new country and theres really not too much here yet...This is why theres a Burger King next to the empire state building. If we had some really cool old church from centuries ago im sure it would be there instead, but we don't so it's not. | |
| | How may people have been to a craft fair? | | Last weekend I went to a craft fair as a seller and I only sold one item for $15.00. The table space was $45.00 and I paid for a folding table at $50.00. It was to a good weekend except that I learned a few things. I will be looking to sell in some future craft fairs. My products were native American crafts that I put together myself, I am of native American Heritage (my Great Great Great Grandfather was Lame Bull a Cheyenne medicine man). Has anyone else been to a craft fair and do you have any secrets t make it more successful in the future?ago im sure it would be there instead, but we don't so it's not. | |

| | Not Accepting Race | | I was watching The Tyra Banks Show with my sister last night on Oxygen. They had an episode where many bi-racial women were not accepting their African-American heritage. They have tried bleaching, even with bleach that you use for clothes. One woman said that she accepted her Caucasian part and hated her African-American heritage, even though she clearly had darker skin. She said she couldn't stand most African-Americans and thought that Caucasians were above African-Americans. She even took a picture in a KKK hood "as a joke". Even being Caucasian, I still found it offensive.Has society made it to where color is important? To me, I am not racist. I refuse to judge a person by the color of their skin. I was taught at an early age that everyone is different, but they are human just like us. They eat, sleep, breathe, and use the restroom just like everyone else. They may have a different culture and a different way of doing things, but they also have feelings. Your life shouldn't be about what skin color everyone else has. I know most racism comes from ignorance and how some people were raised. But everyone is beautiful, inside and out. A person should be judge by the color of... | |
| | What does yahoo means? | | The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language define yahoo as a person regarded as crude or brutish. Its synonym is Boor which means as a person with rude, clumsy manners and little refinement. The central meaning shared by these nouns is "an uncouth and uncultivated person or a vulgarian."It has been observed that mostly of the yahoo users, men and women as well as teenagers except for the few, who were in the chat room sessions are making yahoo as an amusement or sex venue. Are these yahoo members or users are showing or doing similar act from the definition itself? | |
| | Black or African American? | | I was watching the View today (still am) and they were talking about the heated discussions they've had in the past. Whoopi mentioned the debate they had on the fact that she prefers to be called black not African American. I was pleasantly surprised because I thought I was the only one who was bothered by being called African American. My stance is this...some of my ancestors were brought over here on the deck of the boat and some were brought over packed like sardines under the deck. Both went through a lot to get here and both fought for my rights to stay here and life free. The one's on the top deck were escaping religious persecution and the one's underneath were bought and then sold here. The slaves fought for this country, the right to be free and the right to be called Americans. I owe my ancestors...the various white ones and the various black ones, to own my American heritage. I think we all owe it to our ancestors, especially those who fought for equality for all of us, to proclaim ourselves Americans. The only artificial (for lack of a better term) American is the foreigner. If one ventures over to this country, applies for citizenship and is awarded citizenship... | |
